Short-tailed Albatross

Birds you've dreamed of seeing, incredible places, a bit of adventure, and fun. It's what Zugunruhe Birding Tours is all about.

We bring you innovative tours that no one else can duplicate the only tours to Attu and St. Matthew, the only dedicated pelagic trips in Alaska, the only trips with excellent chances of seeing Short-tailed Albatross, and the most and best options for Whiskered Auklet. And we're always on the lookout for new opportunities. We pioneered fall tours to Barrow for Ross's Gulls.

News:

Our Alaska tours are almost here. The Aleutian Pelagic is full (we're taking names for the wait list). There's still space on our Adak tours, and one and two spots remain for the St. Matthew cruise.

NEW TOURS: The itinerary for the Bears of Katmai and California Beering and Birding tours are now up. The Bears of Katmai tour in August is a wonderful opportunity to see and photograph brown bears in Alaska. In November the Beering and Birding tour targets both some of California's best birds AND breweries.

Alaskan Seabirds
We have several tours that can get you Alaska's special seabirds:

Aleutian Pelagic
June 7-11, 2015
All of our boat-based trips in the Aleutians are excellent for finding Short-tailed Albatrosses, but this one is head and shoulders above them all. It's also one of the best for Whiskered Auklets. [Tour full]

Whiskered Auklets for Landlubbers
June 11-14, 2015
Want to see Whiskered Auklets and other pelagic species but don't want to spend a long time on a boat? This is the tour for you.

St. Matthew Island cruise
June 30-July 7, 2015

St. Matthew Island, a seldom-visited island in the Bering Sea, is one of the few places in the world where the beautiful McKay's Bunting breeds. We depart Dutch Harbor and end at St. Paul, so there will be plenty of seabirds along the way: Whiskered Auklet, Red-legged Kittiwake, good chances for Short-tailed Albatross and Mottled Petrel, plus many alcid species. [Two spots remain]

The Ross's Gull Tour: Barrow, Alaska
Oct 7-11, 2015

Join us as we look for some of the magical birds of the Arctic. Our main target is Ross's Gull, but we also look for Ivory Gull, Snowy Owl, Spectacled Eider, and more. We've even seen polar bears, five in 2012, 3 in 2013, and one see very well in 2014.
